Sites of Memory and Event Politics – A comment on Barack Obama’s stump speech on July 24th on the “17th June Street” in Berlin.

In westlichen Gesellschaften hängt die Autorität von Politikern zu einem Großteil von deren Selbstinszenierungsleistung ab. Am Beispiel der Wahlkampfrede von Barack Obama in Berlin am 24. Juni 2008 illustriert Sven Grundmann, wie politische Akteure “Gedächtnisorte” zur Autoritätskonstruktion nutzen. Die Idee der Gedächtnisorte stammt vom französischen Historiker Pierre Nora, welche Grundmann durch seinen Essay für die Politikwissenschaft fruchtbar machen möchte.
